Our Services
Our advice and training empower States and regulated entities to implement the GASeP, building the knowledge, expertise, and skills needed to enhance global aviation security.
Priority Area 1: Enhance Risk Awareness and Response
The global challenge in aviation security is effectively implementing ICAO’s risk assessment and management methodologies, as outlined in key documents like Doc 8973 – Security Manual and the Global Risk Context Statement. To meet this challenge, the global aviation community needs to enhance practical training, establish up-to-date national frameworks, review screening protocols, and evaluate personnel security measures, particularly against insider threats. We offer a range of training courses to build these competencies and support the development of structured national approaches.

As aviation security matures, adopting a risk-based approach is crucial. This bespoke course introduces key principles of risk-based oversight and guides delegates in evaluating complexity, compliance, and performance.
Priority Area 2: Maintain a Strong and Effective Security Culture
Open Access Training
Introduction to Security Culture
In support of ICAO’s Year of Security Culture, this ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS course gives delegates an understanding of what a security culture is, what the benefits of a security culture are and how it can be embedded.
Bespoke Training
Advanced Security Culture
This 2-day course offers States and entities support in measuring security culture in their state, discussing their specific issues or elements that need further work and development of security culture KPI’s specific to their organisation.
Advisory Services
Security Culture and Assessment Plan
The first crucial step in fostering a proactive security culture is a comprehensive Security Culture Assessment. Our expertise helps to effectively evaluate, develop, and sustain a tailored security culture for your organisation.
Free Resources
ICAO Security Culture Resources
We developed a suite of free educational materials for ICAO to promote a positive security culture in civil aviation. These materials include an interactive e-learning course, videos, discussion cards, and customisable tools.
Priority Area 3: Develop and Promote the Role of Human Factors
Open Access Training
Introduction to Human Factors in Aviation Security
This course provides delegates with an overview of the principles of human factors and how to exploit these practically for optimising performance and motivation within the operational environment of the aviation security system, including but not limited to screeners.
Priority Area 4: Improve Technological Resources and Foster Innovation
The challenge in aviation security today is to advance and implement technologies that enhance security without compromising operational efficiency. While ICAO prioritises improving certification processes, balancing innovation with reliability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness remains a complex task. Our advisory services and training help build certification competencies to support future innovation.
Advisory Services
Aviation Security Instructor Digital Certification Assessment
In 2022, the UK CAA introduced a new digital approach to instructor certification, following design, industry consultation, and pilot testing. This process is a key component of the 2017 project on modernising aviation security training. CAAi offers digital outcome-based instructor certification assessments, providing States with a cost-effective solution without significant resource investment.
Advisory Services
Cybersecurity Oversight
As aviation innovation and technology advance, our reliance on supporting information systems grows, expanding the range and impact of cyber threats. With cybersecurity now critical to safety and security operations, we help States develop regulatory frameworks and dynamic oversight programs to meet domestic, European, and international cybersecurity requirements, mitigating potential risks.
Open Access Training
Threat Image Projection
This course offers delegates an understanding of how TIP can be implemented and how the data generated can be used. The course provides an overview of the threats posed to aviation security and how TIP regulatory requirements are addressing these. The course provides delegates with an understanding of how TIP has been implemented in the UK and provides insight into the best practices that have been developed.
Priority Area 5: Improve Oversight and Quality Assurance
Effective quality control and oversight are essential for maintaining aviation security at all levels. Key challenges include improving quality assurance training, coordinating audits and peer reviews among States and regulatory bodies, and developing rectification plans to address vulnerabilities. Our training promotes a risk-based approach to regulatory surveillance, along with best practices in auditing, oversight inspections, and cybersecurity.
Open Access Training
Cybersecurity Oversight
Aligned with ICAO’s Aviation Cybersecurity Strategy, this course, developed with the UK CAA, focuses on effective cybersecurity oversight. It utilises the UK CAA’s framework to balance cybersecurity risk management with aviation safety and resilience. The course covers cybersecurity regulations and the UK CAA’s oversight model with practical examples.
Bespoke Training
Performance-Based Oversight
This training equips delegates with a deep understanding of the principles behind a performance-based approach to aviation security oversight. Participants will explore the regulatory context and baseline requirements, learning how regulators and entities can collaborate to develop a security performance-based assurance regime.
