Aerodrome Certification Training

Background

In response to a new International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) requirement released in 2004 for Aerodrome Certification, the Middle East regional ICAO office, along with the UK Department for Transport (DfT), sponsored the development and delivery of a specific Aerodrome Inspector training course.

Requirements

CAAi was invited to provide this course, which was to be delivered to a group of representatives from beneficiary countries within the region

Approach

The weeklong course was tailored specifically for the region and delivered in the host country, Egypt, which assured delegate attendance and enabled the presenters to demonstrate implementation of aerodrome safety provisions in situ.

Benefits
  • CAAi was able to facilitate ICAO efforts to ensure improved safety in aerodromes within the region.
  • The ICAO Secretary General commented “I have been informed that the high quality and clarity of the presentations made by the two United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority (UK CAA) experts… generated the keen interest of participants from the CAAs of the States in the MID Region and enriched the discussions of the workshops”.
