Course Overview
This course provides delegates with an introduction to the UK CAA CAP 562, Leaflet B40 (hereby referred to as Leaflet B40) framework and explains how Civil Owned, Military Registered Aircraft (COMRA) are managed within a combined civil and military regulatory structure.
It provides an overview of the regulatory requirements, oversight arrangements and organisational interfaces that apply when operating under the provisions of Leaflet B40. The course explains the relationship between civil approvals (Part 145 and Part CAMO), military airworthiness responsibilities, and the CAA’s oversight model.
The course also addresses practical implementation considerations including Exceptions, Outside Civil Oversight (OCO), modification approval, and the Statement of Technical Satisfaction (SOTS) process.

There are no formal pre-requisites for this course.
Delegates should familiarise themselves with the approvals held by their organization (e.g. Part 145, Part CAMO) and any involvement with COMRA aircraft operations or military registered aircraft.

Ian has over 35 years of experience in the industry. He is an Airworthiness specialist at the UK CAA ( including ASSI) including British Aerospace, and now BAE Systems. Ian has previously worked as an Avionics design certification specialist on large aircraft and a Part 145 and Part M specialist. Ian is currently delivering our Initial Airworthiness and Continuing Airworthiness training courses and instructing training addressing the airworthiness aspects of Specific Approvals.
