CAA International (CAAi), the technical cooperation arm of the UK Civil Aviation Authority (UK CAA), has appointed Matthew Margesson as its new Head of International Operations for the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.
Margesson, who previously held the position of Head of International Development, will report to CAAi Managing Director, Maria Rueda.
Since joining CAAi in 2009, Margesson has been instrumental in building valued relationships with ICAO, EASA and fellow National Aviation Authorities across the world. In 2016, Margesson played a pivotal role in securing CAAi’s major capacity building project in Thailand. Margesson also led the development and rollout of e-Exams, an electronic regulatory assessment system now used by aviation regulators all over the world including the UK, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
Commenting on his new appointment, Margesson said, “I’m delighted to be leading CAAi’s project delivery function for some strategically important regions for the UK CAA. Leading a delivery team of this calibre, on projects that deliver significant safety and economic benefits to a nation is a great opportunity. Phenomenal work is being done by CAAi to raise aviation standards across the world – I now look forward to delivering more of this important activity in pursuit of our vision where every State has a sustainable aviation system.”
Margesson remains part of the CAAi senior management team, working alongside Maria Rueda; Rob Erskine, Head of International Operations (Asia); Vera Jakimovska, Head of International Operations (UK/Europe); and Graham Wheeler, Head of Technical Resource.
