When the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) decided to move to an e-Examinations model, they called on CAAi.
The Challenge
Until that point, its examination process had been entirely paper-based, leaving CAA Malaysia to battle with unwieldy administrative processes, and lengthy examination marking delays.
Reporting, when it was attempted, was tedious, and with all candidates answering the same examination questions, the range of questions presented was artificially narrow.
These hurdles combined to make the implementation of e-Examinations a challenge, even for an organisation as experienced as CAAi. A comprehensive needs analysis was carried out to determine the exact approach we would take.
Our Solution
From that needs analysis, we developed a project timeline with clear goals, deadlines and specifications that were upheld throughout the duration of the programme. A preliminary system was designed and built and an initial question bank was developed to meet UK CAA standards.
The question bank was fed directly to a digital examinations model meaning that each assessment was unique to individual candidates.
CAAi set up examination centres and created greater industry awareness of CAA Malaysia’s progress to encourage increased overall traction.
Finally, user training manuals were developed and post-implementation support was agreed to ensure the e-Examination solution met CAA Malaysia’s goals.
The Results
Thanks to CAAi’s e-Examinations, CAA Malaysia is now equipped with a modern, scalable regulatory assessment process, and is already securing efficiency gains. The new question bank, administered and maintained by CAAi, continues to meet UK CAA standards.
Inefficient business processes have been streamlined, and bookings and payments are now completed online, without the need for staff intervention. Users benefit from an online system that is fast, intuitive and simple to use.
Thanks to CAAi’s e-Examination solution, CAA Malaysia’s reputation has been enhanced and all stakeholders are greatly advantaged.
