The X-Ray Screening Challenge: Enhancing Screener Certification with DXCT

Three dates, three times — join one that fits your time zone!

X-Ray screeners play a critical role in aviation security, but maintaining high competency levels is a growing challenge. Diverse screening methodologies, combined with the need for adequate oversight and standardisation, means that traditional certification systems can struggle to keep pace, creating competency gaps. Ensuring screeners can reliably identify threats is key to strengthening the frontline of global aviation security.
Jointly organised with Rapiscan

This webinar provides an opportunity to examine some of the key X-Ray Screener Certification challenges facing the global aviation community. This webinar will also define how incorporating principles of educational good practice, human-centred design, and advanced technological solutions can lead to the creation of a quality certification system to meet regulatory requirements but also to go beyond compliance and allow users to drive up standards and reach security maturity.

Key topics
  • Challenges in X-Ray Screener Certification: Examining the current challenges facing the global aviation community.
  • Creating a Quality Certification System: How educational principles and human-centred design can raise standards and promote security maturity.
  • The UK Implementation: A case study on how the DXCT™ system has been successfully applied in the UK to tackle certification challenges.
  • Insights into the Future: What is needed from certification processes in an increasingly complex aviation security system.
What to expect
  • Learn how DXCT™ can mitigate key security risks and advance data-driven regulation.
  • Understand how this solution can support the certification process and improve self-assurance within aviation security.

Attendees will leave with critical insights into what is needed from a certification process in today’s rapidly evolving aviation security landscape.

  • An Introduction to the CAA International and Rapiscan partnership
  • Setting the scene: Challenges and solutions for global screener certification
  • The UK Case Study: deep dive into insights from the UK DXCT implementation
  • An introduction to the DXCT product
  • Why DXCT is ideal to help you go beyond compliance

Leaders and decision makers from National Appropriate Authorities, industry and international bodies are likely to benefit the most.

Hear from aviation security experts at CAAi and Rapiscan

Sophie Hibbin

Sophie Hibbin joined CAA International in June 2024 as Senior Technical Advisor for Aviation Security, after 7 years working for the UK CAA in the Training and Human Factors team. She specialises in applying research methodologies to policy issues, and is focused on improving global aviation security standards through human factors, security culture, and management systems. She is a UK DfT certificated instructor, with previous operational experience in air traffic control and airport security, and a solid academic background in geology and management science. At CAAi, Sophie supports global efforts to advance aviation security, through the provision of expert advice and training. She has collaborated with international regulatory bodies on projects to examine various risks in today’s aviation security system, and is currently working on improving worldwide certification standards for x-ray screeners and instructors.

Giles Ramsden

Giles has been involved in the aviation security industry since ’98 where he was primarily involved in creating training systems and user interfaces for image recognition training products. As part of the original Quadratica team, where X-Screen® became one of the first online training systems using patented technology to provide 2D Dual view training images, the development of cutting-edge technology in the Image Interpretation Training market has led to the inclusion of 3D CT image technology, further leading on to becoming part of the Rapiscan family and the provision of the Digital National X-Ray Competency Test (DNXCT) for the UK DfT and CAA.
