CAA International (CAAi) recently concluded a comprehensive Safety Management training programme for the State Civil Aviation Agency (SCAA) of the Kyrgyz Republic. The training, conducted by CAAi’s safety management specialist Simon Roberts and senior technical advisor Vladimir Valionkin, took place in Bishkek during June.
The programme began with three days of classroom-based theoretical training, which covered various modules including safety policy, safety risk management, safety assurance, safety promotion, and State Safety Programmes. This was further bolstered by two days of practical on-the-job training, overseen by Simon and Vladimir.
During this period, attendees had the opportunity to conduct a partial SMS assessment with three service providers, gaining invaluable first-hand knowledge of the assessment process. A one-day safety management workshop was also delivered for senior managers from SCAA and Kyrgyz civil aviation industry service provider organisations.
To facilitate effective communication, the training was supported by an interpreter, and all course materials were provided in both English and Russian.
This training programme forms part of a broader initiative led by CAAi, aimed at reviewing, updating, and implementing a revised, ICAO compliant State Safety Programme in the Kyrgyz Republic. The completion of the project is anticipated later this year.
