We are pleased to announce that CAAi has introduced two new English Language Proficiency courses: ab initio and recurrent International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Language Proficiency Requirements (LPRs).
Designed and delivered by Simon Cook, an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and English for Special Purposes (ESP) exam developer and examiner trainer with over 15 years’ experience in the ICAO LPR language assessment and examiner training, these courses are aimed at certified ICAO LPR Examiners wishing to undertake their recurrent annual training, or those who aspire to gain an initial certification of training as ICAO LPR Examiners.
Safety experts are constantly seeking to improve aviation operations to ensure safe passengers’ journey worldwide. Precise and clear aviation communication is an important human factor element of operations that requires consideration when implementing safety systems and procedures. ICAO Doc 9835 serves as a guide for the implementation of appropriate language training and testing programmes. As a leading ambassador for implementing aviation regulatory best practice, CAAi is offering this specialised training as a step towards supporting industry and States in their efforts to ensure that the ICAO language proficiency requirements are fully implemented and that, ultimately, air traffic control and flight crew personnel are proficient in conducting and comprehending radiotelephony communications in the English language.
ICAO LPR: English Language Proficiency Examiner Training (ab initio) combines tutor-led learning with on-line guided learning in a 40-hour virtual training course that provides the essential foundations in the principles and practices of ICAO-compliant Aviation English language proficiency examining and an initial certification of training in ICAO LPR assessment.
ICAO LPR: English Language Proficiency Examiner Training (recurring) combines tutor-led learning with on-line guided learning in a 25-hour virtual course, providing the appropriate revision, consolidation and extension of the theoretical knowledge and professional competence required by delegates in their roles as National Aviation Authority (NAA) certified or licensed ICAO LPR Examiners.
Simon Cook is the Exams Manager of a UK CAA approved language assessment body and has provided consulting and training services in relation to the successful implementation of the ICAO language proficiency requirements to international clients since 2004. In 2016 he was accepted onto the ICAO Technical Cooperation Programme as an expert of Aviation English Proficiency.
Silke Buckley, CAAi’s Senior Training Manager, said: “We are delighted to have these two courses as a part of our training portfolio, and we are looking forward to welcoming delegates on our first training sessions. With our commitment to supporting ICAO, member States and the aviation industry in raising aviation safety standards, we hope that this training will help us realise this goal even further.
These courses can also be delivered in-company and tailored to an organisation’s individual requirements. For more information, please email our dedicated training team directly training@caainternational.com or call +44 (0) 330 022 4401.
