We are delighted to announce that CAA International (CAAi) has been shortlisted again at the annual UK Social Enterprise Awards.
The awards, that recognise organisations that give back, enrich communities and make a contribution to society, have a total of 14 categories, showcasing some of the UK’s best social enterprises that tackle social and environmental problems, both in Britain and overseas.
CAAi has been nominated in the “International Impact” category. The latter nomination is in recognition of CAAi’s fully funded legal support to the Pacific Small Islands Developing States to strengthen the region’s civil aviation sectors delivered in cooperation with ICAO, and development of a website for the Women in Aviation and Aerospace Charter launched by Theresa May to encourage gender balance across the aviation and aerospace industries.
CAAi became a social enterprise in 2017, in a bid to make a greater impact to aviation safety and security standards across the globe. Under a new profit-for-a-purpose strategy, CAAi is investing funds back into the global aviation community where it is needed most. With over 90 countries still below the global average of safety oversight standards, CAAi is able to provide assistance for long-term gains that will benefit the travelling public and support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all.
Maria Rueda, Managing Director at CAAi said, “We are thrilled to have been nominated again for the prestigious national award. At CAAi, we firmly believe everyone should have access to safe and secure air transport services. Over the past year, our team has worked in over 60 countries and trained thousands of people from all across the world in a bid to achieve this goal. For our efforts to be recognised by UK Social Enterprise is a great achievement and something we can all be very proud of.”
Ben Alcott, International Director at the CAA added, “This is wonderful news for CAAi being recognised by the UK Social Enterprise in a consequent year. My thanks go to the whole team for their efforts to bring not only this project life but many others that we have been involved in the past year and that contributed to the ever safer aviation”.
The ceremony will take place on Wednesday 4th December at London’s Guildhall.
