The Cyprus Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) has extended its technical assistant programme with CAA International (CAAi), to provide the Cyprus DCA with technical safety oversight and certification support. CAAi’s assistance will be focused on Flight Operations. This extension follows twelve months of support from CAAi in the areas of Flight Operations and Flight Crew Licensing that finished in July 2019.
As one of Europe’s top tourist destinations, with a large majority of visitors arriving to the island nation by air, continually enhancing civil aviation standards is a top priority for Cyprus’ government.
Under the new programme, CAAi will provide a Flight Operations Inspector (FOI) on a visiting basis for a period of one year to support DCA Cyprus with flight operations inspections, surveillance of aircraft registered in Cyprus and Air Operator Certificate holders. The CAAi FOI will also act as an advisor to Cyprus DCA, providing advice and recommendations on EU/EASA requirements.
Rob Erskine, Head of International Operations of CAAi, said: “We are delighted to be approached by the DCA Cyprus once again. With just under 9 million passengers flying through Cyprus each year, it is important to us that not only UK travellers but passengers from across the world can enjoy the high standard of safety aviation oversight when travelling to and from Cyprus. We look forward to continuing our work with the Cyprus DCA’’.
