CAA International (CAAi), the technical cooperation arm of the UK Civil Aviation Authority (UK CAA), has been awarded a new 5-year contract for the supply of electronic examination services to the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority (MCAA).

The new agreement, which will supersede the existing contract due to conclude in 2021, will cover the provision of Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) and Flight Crew Licensing (FCL) examinations for the issue of a Maldives CAA licence.

The computer-based exam system by CAAi and technology partner Aspeq, will use the current UK CAA AME/FCL question banks aligned to MCAA requirements and include questions to reflect the Maldives national aviation legalisation.

Matthew Margesson, Head of International Operations at CAAi, said:

“Continuing our successful relationship with the Maldives CAA, we are delighted to have been reappointed, and we look forward to continuing our e-exams services. Since 2017, CAAi has conducted over 1,400 exams on behalf of the Maldives CAA. This contract renewal will help MCAA ensure that all high-stakes examinations for MCAA licensing purposes in the Maldives continue to meet the highest international standards, using relevant and modern question banks and the latest technology in computer-based exams.”

The renewed contract commenced in April 2021.
