Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust approached CAAi looking to supplement an existing surface-level helicopter landing area at their hospital as patients had to be transferred by road from their existing landing pad to the A&E Department.
- To develop the new helipad at the entrance to the A&E Department in order to eliminate the need for a secondary road transfer and reduce stress to the patient.
- The Trust had identified a favourable location for their new helipad directly outside the A&E entrance.
Our UK CAA experts assessed that the preferred location was unsuitable for the safe operation of a helicopter
Inspection identified four additional locations that would potentially be suitable for helicopter operations; these were presented to the Trust in a comprehensive feasibility report.
