What is Airworthiness?

Airworthiness has two main domains; Initial Airworthiness and Continuing Airworthiness. Initial Airworthiness is when the aircraft, engine or propeller conforms to the approved design. The main focus is on design and production aspects. Continuing Airworthiness means all of the processes ensuring that, at any time in its operating life, the aircraft complies with the airworthiness requirements in force and is a condition for safe operation.

Course Overview

This course demonstrates how Airworthiness and Safety Regulation is controlled in the UK and provides an overview of the processes and procedures used by the UK CAA to ensure that individuals, manufacturers, operators and maintenance organisations comply with the relevant Airworthiness Regulations, setting this work in the International context established by ICAO and EASA.

This course is suitable for aviation personnel who require an overall understanding of how airworthiness and safety regulation is controlled in the UK.

Tangible benefits have been identified by representatives from National Aviation Authorities (NAAs), military personnel, airlines, maintenance organisations and manufacturers.
